Now, in that digital space wherein storytelling has now become diverse as well as innovative, he will be lauded for his complex performances. Web series by Madhavan include an incredible diversity of strong and demanding characters; these vary from high-tension, heavy-psi thriller plots to comedy web series.

Therein lies the massive spectrum of Madhavan as a performer in web series with high-quality material to attract the audiences but at the same time achieving award-winning films or series with a difference under the banner of OTT.

There has been all-around development for Madhavan as a fresh strength of the moving world in streamed TV. Here are some of his most notable shows:

1. Breathe (2018)- Amazon Prime Video

Breathe is about the life of Madhavan as Denzel "Danny" Mascarenhas who tries all the measures to save his son from an extremely dangerous and fatal illness. It is an extreme fight in the story as the film progresses in that way that Danny brings forth the ultimate situation for his son and all the crimes leading up to the end just so he can live.

In any case, it's a psychological thriller speaking about morality, desperation, and just how far a parent would go for his child. The show received huge appreciation in terms of intense dark narrative and performance of Madhavan that was critically appreciated as he was seen carrying the emotional weight of the character. It turned out to be one of his best performances in the digital space.

"What would you do to save your child, Danny? What would you do?"

2. Decoupled (2021) - Netflix

Decoupled is an almost firmly placed story, gently represented by Madhavan playing the character of Arya Iyer, an almost authoritatively successful and sardonic writer dealing with the intricacies of a modern marriage that's on the brink of divorce. The comedy series is set against the backdrop of high-end relationships and rich lives, humorously detailing the subtleties of love, marriage, and relationships as Arya and his wife begin their journey to separation, but still with so much entangled with each other.

The series is mixed; it gives some good performances by Madhavan and Surveen Chawla, but the reaction to the tone of the series is mixed. It is something to watch for people who like to see light-hearted entertainment with an element of insights.

"Marriage is a contract that we renew, only if we choose to."

3. The Railway Men (2023)

It is a historical drama based on the incidents that happened in 1984's infamous Bhopal gas tragedy. The pivotal role in this mini-series is played by Madhavan, who narrates the story of unsung heroes—the railway men—who went beyond their duties to save lives during the catastrophic incident. The series talks about themes of heroism, human compassion, and survival in the aftermath of a disaster.

Madhavan, who has received much appreciation through the poignant narration of the Bhopal tragedy, has worked well in it. The show has received very good ratings by being sensitive towards the event historically.

"Humne apni jaan ki keemat nahi jaane di, humne insaaniyat ko jaan ki keemat dikhayi."

4. Hisaab Barabar (2025) - ZEE5

Hisaab Barabar is a satirical thriller. The film will release on January 24, 2025. Madhavan is featured in this film and plays the character of Radhe Mohan Sharma who is actually a railway ticket examiner who stumbles upon a gigantic scale of financial fraud. The movie revolves around the investigation carried out by Sharma regarding a fraudulent banking scheme which then takes a cat-and-mouse chase between the two parties.

It is a satire-thriller series that talks about corruption, bureaucracy, and personal justice. Even though the show has not yet been released, it has caught attention due to its unique premise and involvement of Madhavan. The world premiere at the 55th International Film Festival of India held in Goa shows strong interest in the show.
