Goldfish is an emotional drama into the very guts of identity, family, and reconciliation. Anamika is a young girl of mixed race who returns to her childhood home in London from her place in India to look after her estranged mother, Sadhana, who is slowly slipping into dementia.
This causes much emotional upheaval as Anamika has to deal with the unresolved emotions of the past related to culture and life left behind while bonding with her mother. The film takes a sensitive yet strained interaction to be the tender bond between a mother and daughter, an important relationship as seen through the themes of memory, belonging, and forgiveness.
