The prestigious 77th Cannes Film Festival has begun on the French Riviera. While the red carpet has been getting the most headlines, we must not forget that it is a film festival and once where cinema from across the world is being celebrated now as we Speak. Indian stars and celebrities have time and again graced the film festival and made the nation proud. There is a film from India in the main competition for palme d or after 30 years and that is a victory for the country. One movie that found itself screened at the festival is the remastered version of the iconic Shyam Bengal movie Manthan.

Manthan For The Unversed is an Indian Film, which was released approximately 50 years ago in theaters. Naseeruddin Shah and late actor Smita Patil portray the lead role in the film. Directed by Shyam Bengel, the film was the first Indian Movie made by Crowdfunding and soon became a cult classic. The film streams on the OTT platform ZEE 5 for fans and is now making a massive buzz on the internet and at the Cannes Film Festival after being honored with a standing ovation.
